epic encounters
This is a post that I wanted to post in a spotlight that is now closed."how to make pve better". Since I put some thought into it i wanted to post the idea anyways.
My suggestion is really simple:make a more memerable/epic random battle with epic drops.
How:when a monster,slain by a player dies there should be a 1% chance that a "epic" boss spawns from the corpse(this is an instant effect and doesnt "burn" the corpse).This will add a randomness that really cant be farmed or soloed and make a memerable event for all new and old players.
Where:excluding pre ascalon through northern shiverpeaks for proph and everything north of maatu keep in factions also all minnion/spirit/pet.there should be a slight increase of "epic encounter" in underworld and fow like 2%
there should be a limit of 1 "epic encounter" per map area.(not to say that it will spawn 1 per area)
Epic boss: An epic boss is just that.It should only spawn if all the party members are level 20 and ascended. It should carry a minnimum of 3 elites(that can be capped) and 1 monster only spell and 4 normal spells.It should be random which 1 spawns as they are not assigned an area.It should be level 40 - 50 and immune to all conditions.It should disable all available rez shrines(untill it dies) and never loose agro(in that it will chase you till the end of the zone).there should be 1 epic boss for every class primary skill with the approprite ones put into expantions.(like the skills core+proph ,core+factions,core+nightfall,and so on).So, as an example of an epic axe warrior:2 axe elites,1 warrior core elite, 1 monster only spell and four warrior skills(not axe necasserly)and AI that is plain viciuos.these "epic" monsters should not be able to be defeated in less than 5 min.If the epic boss is sucessful in killing the party it should "unspawn" and all epic spawns be done for the area.
Epic drops:there should be some really special ,cool drops and drop assignments, in that all party members recive 1 drop.There should be an epic weapon/sheild(wand/off hand for spell casters) that cannot be reproduced(like the totem axe)/an epic rune that gives the apropriate stat +1 and stacks.(ie for our epic axe warrior it gives +1 to axe skill with no life penalty and stacks)only 1 epic rune to be in use at a time on armor sets./ salvageable gold armor(s) that have approprite superior runes on them including a vigor.(that makes 8)1 rune/2 weapons/5 gold sup armors. if less than 8 in party - sup armors untill appropriate.if there are henchmen in party you should still get a drop but it should be random.
(note on epic rune:it should give an aura of the approprate color on charecter when in use.Ie. the warrior rune should be a yellow.The "aura" will only be able to be seen outside cities and outposts)
epic title:you could add in a title when all the epic bosses per campaign are defeated by a char.That char recives the "(insert campaign name here) epic champion" title.
well thats my idea.....any thoughts?

Sounds interesting but I don't think there should be a title for it. With a standard spawn chance of 1%, killing all of these "epic" bosses wouldn't be something that you achieved through your efforts; you'd just have to be very very lucky.

I like the idea, but the drops seem a little high.
And the title may not be practical unless certain "Epic" bosses only spawn in certain explorable areas. I don't think these Epic bosses should spawn in mission areas. Example, you kill a Titan Fist when fighting the Lich and the Epic boss spawns while you're fighting the Lich.
Instead of elite skills just give the boss monster only skills, no skill capping from it. Most players won't have a Signet of Capture anyway unless they are on a capping run.
I don't think the level should exceed that of Glint, Shiro, Kuunavang, or the Lich.
But I do like the randomness of these deadly bosses popping up.

title was an after thought and i really dont care about that....
and i should have made it clear that these should spawn in explorable areas not in co-op missions.
and the level lol was added to say i want them to be tough REALLY tough...

screws up solofarming this one... tho that might be something anet might want, (since solofarming is made difficult anyway with monster grouping(meaning u cannot lure jst 1 monster at a time))
for added difficulty try solo or dual farming ^^, it is challenging and fun to do since ull be luring trapping bonding an basicly pulling pretty much every trick up ur sleeve jst to stay alive... also these give much more freedom to explore an do stuff jst dor fun since 2 ppl team is much more flexible than 8 since in 8 man team ppl are always in a hurry to get what they came to do an leave after it

I have a bit of trouble in it coming form the corpse too....
And hopefully you are not suggesting that for the Mission area too (imagin almost finishing a mission.. only to have a epic boss pop out and whipe your party)
And if anything, would just make the teleport/shadow step in... (oh yeah.. see Nevin's post above) Could also give some some poses (side-kicking mobs) with them.
Suposely with the coming of Nightfall, spirit monster will be randomly appear in other campaign too.. could be osmething like that.
With some modification, I see it beneficial. And Nevin's idea are a blast.
